IAT Group Supervision

Group supervision is a core component of training in Integrative Attachment Therapy (IAT). These sessions provide a structured and reflective space for clinicians to deepen their understanding of the IAT model and to refine its application in clinical practice.

IAT Group Supervision is facilitated by the founders of IAT — Dr. David Elliott, Nigel Denning, and Dr. Traill Dowie — and offers continuity with the model as it was developed, taught, and integrated into psychotherapy practice over decades of work in attachment theory, research, and clinical application.

What Is IAT Group Supervision?

IAT Group Supervision consists of 90-minute live online supervision sessions for trainees in IAT Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3.

These sessions support clinicians to develop a clear and flexible understanding of how attachment dynamics organise the mind and relationships in therapy. Supervision creates space to reflect on real clinical material. It also allows clinicians to clarify questions that arise in practice and to strengthen their use of the IAT model with adult clients experiencing attachment insecurity.

The supervision space is intentionally relational and reflective. The emphasis is on clinical judgement and case formulation. Attention is given to the moment-to-moment application of the IAT framework rather than the use of techniques.

Accreditation Requirements

Group supervision is a required component of the IAT accreditation pathway.

To meet accreditation requirements, clinicians must complete:

• Five IAT Group Supervision sessions, and

• Two individual supervision sessions with an approved IAT supervisor.

All IAT Group Supervision sessions listed on this page count toward these accreditation requirements.
